"the day for facing things"

Julia, my lovely roommate, told me that "today is the day for facing things."

She's right. And I hate her for it.

~*~ Thing I Faced #1: We got up and went to the gym this morning (okay, let's be honest - it was the afternoon). I got on the scale, and was mildly shocked and appalled. It was 5 pounds more than the weight that I was grudgingly holding before Christmas. I'll be getting my period soon and I was so bloated yesterday (from period/bad cheesesteak decision/etc) that my stomach hurt. Seriously, I was laying on Jason's bed last night rubbing my stomach. Nice mental image, right?

Anyway, enough with the excuses. I'm optimistic that a week of exercising and healthy eating will do the trick. (keeping track of what I eat starting Sunday - but I ate well today and exercised too!)

~*~ Thing I Faced #2: I opened up my CLEP Biology book and notes that I haven't touched in over two weeks. I was faced with trying to remember all about chemical bonds, carbohydrates, proteins, cell organelles ... and faced with learning about cell division. Mitosis and Meiosis are not my friend. And if anyone understands cell respiration, I would love to have a mini-lesson.

Since most of you have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm taking 3 CLEP exams to receive undergraduate credits to get fully certified in elementary ed. I need four classes: Biology, Economics, Geography, and Environmental Science. Ugh! I can take 3 tests to get credit for all 4 classes. I've decided to take the hardest one first: Biology. I'm planning on taking it in the middle of February - but we will see.

What did you face today?
