First day back ....

First day back to school was a little rough. The kids forget how to act when they are at home with their families for too long. That sounds mean, but the kids who we have the most trouble with - their parents always say, "We don't know how to handle them either!"

Two kids got in a fight in the back of my room. Well, actually - one of them had his hands around another kids neck and pinned him against the wall for awhile. They don't really FIGHT all that much in the 6th grade. They tend to grab each other and move around a little while attached. Sometimes it almost looks like they are hugging and swaying back and forth. It's not too often that real punches are thrown, but it does happen.

For the most part, they just talked non stop - acting like they hadn't seen each other in years. One of my toughest kids in my morning class got called down to the office this afternoon and transferred out. I like him, but he was super low level (kindergarten level) and very hyperactive, so it certainly will be easier without him.
